Weekend Recap!

Happy Monday!  We had yet another great weekend with some impromptu events along the way.

It was back to being freezing on Friday night.  Freezing!  Even though it was colder than we would have liked, we ventured out for drinks and dinner.  Much crazier than our normal Friday nights, I know.

We live steps away from One if by Land, Two if by Sea, one of the most romantic (if not these most romantic) restaurant in the City.  However, neither one of us have ever been.  So we decided to stop in for a quick drink at the bar.

Of course, someone got engaged while we were there.  I'm not sure how it was a surprise (if it was at all) because there was a videographer there!!  What did she think was happening?!

Saturday, the day all New Yorkers brunch, we decided to participate in the ongoing to tradition and headed to Calle Ocho on the Upper West Side to celebrate one of my friend's birthdays.  It's quite obvious, this restaurants is on a mission to get everyone drunk.  Unlimited 20 oz sangria's?!  Are you kidding?

For the prices, the food was actually pretty good as well.

Since we were already on the Upper West Side, we decided to knock a couple of things off our New York to do list.  The first stop was Tom's Restaurant.  I think it's pretty obvious what iconic sitcom this is from.

Truth be told though, I never really got into Seinfeld.  Jaime loves it though, so I've definitely enjoyed a number of episodes in recent years.

I've made it a goal to carry our camera with us while we're out and about so we can capture some cool shots.  Here are a few additional photos from our adventures this weekend.  All very colorful!  I didn't mean for that to happen, but clearly it's a sign I'm longing for spring.

We also dropped by Grant's Tomb.  It was pretty cool.  Gorgeous building!  This was a shot of the park as we stood on the stairs of the tomb.

So as you can see, we had quite the eventful weekend!  Thank goodness we had nothing to do on Sunday (like we ever do).

Another busy week ahead, but in the meantime, I leave you with this gorgeous shot of the blue sky.  Warmer temperatures can't get here soon enough.

Weekend Recap: Octoberfest!

Another great weekend for the books!  We spent a lot of time outdoors, which is nice because it's bound to get colder and colder going forward.

We knocked one thing off the Fall To Do List this weekend.  We headed to Octoberfest at Bear Mountain and had a great time.  So gorgeous!

We ran into our lovely engagement shoot photographer.  Check her site out if you're looking for a photographer!  She's awesome!

All-in-all, great weekend!

I even put chili in the crock-pot before we left; perfect meal to come home to after being cold all day.  We needed to bring our body temperatures back to normal.

(PS - That chili recipe is coming up!)

Have a great week!

Fall To Do List

Fall, my favorite time of year.  It is definitely a reminder of why I love New York so much.

There are so many amazing things to do year round, but some activities are just much sweeter when done in the crisp fall weather.

Here are a few activities I'd like to do before it gets too cold:

** Perfect a spiked cider recipe - This is very important!  However, it might be better to wait until it gets super cold.

** Apple picking - I have no idea what I would do with an excessive amount of apples we'd pick, but it always seems like a great idea.

** Winery - When wine is involved, it is always an option no matter the season.  I think it would be great to head-out of the city to a nearby vineyard, have a picnic and drink some wine.

** Picnic in Central Park - How amazing does a picnic sound in Central Park on a slightly chilly fall day.  You could bring a spiked cider (hence wanting to perfect the recipe) and cheese.  Sounds very picturesque to me.

** Pumpkin picking - This would probably go hand-in-hand with apple picking, but it seems like a classic October activity.

** Make apple cider doughnuts.

I hope to get most of these checked off our to do list.  What's on your agenda this fall?

KMH

PS - We're knocking this off the fall to do list in a couple of weeks!  Hopefully the weather is perfect.

Summer Bucket List

Even after being in NYC for several years, there are so many things we still need to try.  Even more during the summer months when we are more inclined to be outside.
Here are a few items on our summer buckets list:

**1) Rent Citi Bikes: These bikes placed all over the City are relatively new.  While I don't like the idea of riding anywhere near cars, there are a lot of places we can ride and still be safe: Central Park, Battery Park City, etc.

**2) Visit Green-Wood Cemetery: This is something that Jaime has been wanting to do for a while.  It's supposed to be beautiful.  I know, I know, it's a weird item on a bucket list, but we'll definitely end up going there soon.

**3) Walk around the Brooklyn Botanical Garden:  I feel like everyone has been there but us.  This might be a better activity in the the fall or a cooler summer day.

**4) Head out of the City:  We have been to the Hamptons a couple of times and it's great escape from New York.

We would like to plan a quick getaway around our one year wedding anniversary and have been looking at Montauk, Martha's Vineyard or even Block Island. There are still so many destinations we need to explore on the East Coast.

**5) Try new restaurants (obviously) during Restaurant Week:  Some of these deals may not end up being deals, but it's a fun way to try new restaurants that we wouldn't otherwise try.

What's on your summer bucket list?
