Enjoying the Weekends!

Happy Monday!  I've loved watching some of the Olympics.  However, I miss our regular programs.  There has been nothing on.  Maybe this is a sign that our lives revolve around TV.

While I know every weekend is too short, this weekend was exceptionally short.  The weather was gorgeous on both Saturday and Sunday.  All the more reason to complete and attack our weekend to do list.  We also need to invest in more experiences and get more out of our weekends according to this article.

Regardless of wanting there to be one more day or relaxation, I'm still trying to go into this week positively though.

Jaime arrived home from a work trip on Friday night (late) and then we had to meet up with some friends for a very quick drink.

Saturday we then made our way to Garden City for a party with some of my work friends.  It ended up being a really fun night, however, I failed to take many photos outside of these.

We ended the weekend with this lovely meal.
(Recipe for the soup is coming soon.)

Here’s to hoping this week moves fast and the weather gets better and better!

New Year's Resolutions - 2014!

New Year, new you!  Isn't that the saying?  While I appreciate what New Year's resolutions stand for, there's something to be said about being the best you year round.

I hope everyone had a great time ringing in 2014.  I know we did!

Great dinner with friends.  We managed to find a restaurant in the New York that wasn't offering a pre-fixed menu only.

Everything is better in these coupe glasses from Crate and Barrel.

Now on to my resolutions.  Here are a few of mine:

** Practice more patience, in all aspects of my life.  I am not a patient person.  I try to be, but I'm not fooling anyone.

** Fit in more early morning workouts.  I do a great job of working out, but with the workdays getting longer and longer, I need to get my butt out of bed before work.  No excuses.

** Stop worrying so much...about EVERYTHING!  I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and worry about everything and everyone that I love.  I need to let go!

**  Live in the moment.  This is a good life lesson for everyone.  Life is too short.  Don't worry about what's next.

** Let go of the planning process every so often.  For those of you that know me knows that this will be hard.  I'm such a planner and need to hand over the reins every so often.

What are your New Year's Resolutions?

Planning A Bachelorette

Bachelorette parties are so much fun!  I loved mine.  It is so great to have all your girlfriends in one place.  I have truly amazing friends.

If this doesn't sum up the weekend, I don't know what does.

Anyway, my brother-in-law and future sister-in-law are getting married early next year.  Which means there is a fun girls weekend scheduled on the West Coast in January.

I offered to take the lead on the planning process (my favorite thing!!) and it got me thinking about everything you need to consider when putting an event like this together.  It's a lot!

(I love planning and organizing events as much as Monica Geller loved her label maker in Friends.  Remember how excited she was to make folders for Chandler when looking for a job.  #loser)

First things first, figuring out a destination, potential dates and how many people are tentatively attending.  Once you have all this, you can start researching hotels and activities.  You want to have a date locked in as soon as possible to allow people time to purchase their airline tickets (if necessary) as far in advance as possible.

What is my favorite part of any event and the most crucial piece (I think)?  The invites, of course.  How adorable are these options?

Can't wait to celebrate this beauty in January!
